An emerging artist from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Reid Ferguson is currently studying at Sheridan College in the Craft and Design program. Working primarily in glass and concrete, he creates handcrafted objects, with an urban industrial aesthetic.
Presently, Reid is working on a series of bowls with a concrete exterior and an opaque layer of black and white glass on the interior. The glass of the interior features magnified photographs of graffiti from important locations along the train tracks in Kitchener. The simple black and white colour palette, paired with the neutral tone of the concrete, refers to the simplicity and repetition of a graffiti throw up (a name painted quickly with one layer of spray paint and an outline often in black and white).
