Jared Last
Pattie Walker Memorial Award in Architectural Glass

Jared Last is a Toronto based artist who holds a BFA in Glass from the Alberta College of Art and Design where he graduated with distinction in 2016. He has received numerous scholarships throughout his career, and had the opportunity to study at the Corning Museum of Glass, and Pilchuck Glass School. Most recently, he was accepted into the Craft and Design Program at Harbourfront Centre, having received a first year scholarship in 2017. Jared’s work combines his interest in colour, pattern, architecture and the unique optical properties of glass to create both functional and sculptural works that invite investigation and engagement. He subverts the traditional functions of the vessel and glass as a primarily functional medium while emphasizing the subtle phenomena of the material. He creates works that draw viewers inwards, allowing them to experience space, pattern, colour and glass from alternative perspective(s).
