Johnny learned to carve from his father Saggiatok, and he has been carving some 20 years. He tries to make his dancing bears as realistic as possible. He says that buyer Chris Pudlat at West Baffin Eskimo Co-op really likes his bears, and he receives a good price for them because they are popular and they sell well.
Johnny admires the work of Mathew Saveakjuk Jaw, especially his transformation pieces. He has tried making similar pieces, but he is not happy with the result.
