Now located in Toronto, Deborah Sanderson spent a good portion of her childhood exploring nature in a rural setting. Her curiosity led to making jewellery pieces that emulate natural, textured surfaces by using the technique of reticulation, which shows an unexpected movement in the metal and a depth that reflects a true handmade process. With a chance discovery of a jar of old buttons, this led to a love of mother of pearl which is often incorporated into her work.

Every piece is crafted using the most basic tools and is created with silver recycled from broken jewellery, coins and cutlery. By making with found materials, it is an effort to reduce the mining of precious metals.

Deborah is proud that the recycled silver and reclaimed precious materials used in her work are sourced from local thrift shops that support employment programs and charitable causes.
