Studio offers perspectives on contemporary Canadian craft and design within global material culture. Published twice a year with an ongoing web presence, Studio is the Canadian platform for conversations and explorations about making.
Studio works towards building a considerable archive of documentation of Canadian creators; engaging directly with historical and contemporary social issues through Canadian craft and design; supporting and championing Canadian artists and their work; and, deliberately and conscientiously working towards inclusion and representation.

Editorial Vision
Studio is published in Toronto by Craft Ontario but is produced by an amalgamation of engagement from across the country with support from stakeholders outside Canada. Our Regional and National Editorial committees comprise representatives from the provinces and territories organised by an Executive Editorial Committee. We put continual energy into developing our relationships with all of Canada’s regions and communities as well as with like-minded organisations around the world. At the core of Studio is regional awareness in a global context.
Call for Submissions
Interested in contributing to Studio Magazine? Studio welcomes article pitches from both emerging and established writers, academics, scholars, and journalists writing about contemporary Canadian craft and design and related stories. We are interested in original ideas, unique voices and perspectives, little-known histories, and anything that challenges the status quo of craft and design and the ideas around making.
