2021 Cape Dorset Annual Print Collection
Visit Craft Ontario Shop October 1st to October 28th to see this year's Cape Dorset Print Collection on display. It is a very different experience to enjoy the prints in person, as there are physical details that are difficult to capture in digital images. The prints' rich colours, embossing and texture must be appreciated in person!
Since 1959 Dorset Fine Arts has released an annual collection of prints created by Inuit artists of Kinngait (Cape Dorset), Nunavut. This year's selected artists showcase dynamic variety and a true depth of talent.
As one of the first establishments to represent Inuit and First Nations art in Toronto, the Craft Ontario Shop is proud to continue to support the rich history and culture of Canada’s Indigenous peoples.

Burst of Plumage is a breathtaking example of the careful and prolific Padloo Samayualie. The abstraction and graphic quality of this piece makes it stand out in this year’s collection.
This amazing little print, Bounding Bear is 9 x 12 inches. Malaija Pootoogook’s work depicts a sweet relationship with wildlife. Positive and colourful, her work gives new life to her animal subjects. Sadly, Malaiya Pootoogook passed away this year. Her spirited presence in the collection will be missed.
This piece by Ningiukulu Teevee, titled No Turning Back, feels appropriate for today. Society has quickly evolved in two years, perhaps there should be no turning back.
This piece must be enjoyed in person. Saimaiyu Akesuk's print titled Drifting Home is a bold and beautifully bright piece that has water texture embossed into the paper.
