Visit the Craft Ontario Shop from January 25th to February 14th to see our feature of imaginative ceramics by Kaley Flowers!
Kaley Flowers is a Toronto-based ceramic artist and Artist-in-Residence in Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre. A graduate of OCADU, Kaley has exhibited at Hashimoto Contemporary in San Francisco, The Hole in New York, and Dunlop Gallery in Regina. In 2018, she exhibited alongside Adrienne Crossman at Toronto’s 8-11 Gallery, and was awarded the Kent and Doug Farndale Award of Excellence by Craft Ontario. Kaley has been featured in Canadian Art, The Creator’s Project, The Globe and Mail, and CBC Arts.
Digital culture, online trends and early-Net ephemera are some of the influences in Kaley’s work. She explores her ideas through a mythology of characters and “cyber artifacts”, in an attempt to solidify the fleeting virtual imagery of our past and present into tangible objects. Interested in the intrinsic narratives of material, her work utilizes clay with both historical and contemporary references. Kaley creates work that looks deeper into our relationships with technology, each other, and the objects around us.
