Alasua Sharky 1973- started carving at a very young age, around 13 or 14 years old. He was inspired by his late stepfather, Shorty Killiktee. Alasua also learned by watching his grandfather, Kopapik Ragee. His first carving was a small resting bird.

Alasua was also interested in experimenting with graphic art. In 2016, he decided to ask Bill Ritchie, studio manager at the time, if he could try drawing. Alasua likes to draw all sorts of things, like people going hunting, local and migratory birds, and other animals from the Arctic.
