House on the Farm - Wooden Box

This intricate and playful wooden box is inspired by farm life. Find the farmer tending to their crops, the tractor parked next to the red barn, a car parked in the garage and a truck outside. There are many compartments to store your favourite items. The main box features a double lid and a sky motif and there are two hidden drawers - one in the house and one in the barn.

Artist Statement: “Constant attention to form, shape, mass (and a dislike for repetition) has caused me to explore beyond the common and simple forms attributed to most woodworking. I take pleasure from those who contemplate and ponder what I have done, how I have done it and why. While I like to surprise it is not for the sake of surprise alone, but more from an intent to stoke another’s imagination and amusement, to encourage the need to touch and explore. My current work makes use of bent wood and marquetry which I fold around whatever I am making."
