Over the years, the bark edged bowl has become a best selling style of serving bowl, especially with repeat customers familiar with the brand. The live bark edge combines with the smooth interior to reflect a balance between rugged natural beauty and functional form. With this bowl, we strive to maintain as much of the natural tree as possible in the finished piece, and depending on the amount of colour in the individual bowl, it may range from freshly elegant to darkly mysterious. Turned on our custom lathe, bowls are nested to eliminate waste, creating unique colouring and variations in size and depth between bowls. Each bowl is refreshingly unique.

Maple
Available in 11, 14, 17 and 19"
Due to the handmade nature, each bowl will vary in colour and pattern.

In the early 80s, Don Stinson made a living turning and making furniture, expressing himself creatively by hand crafting wooden bowls and burls in a hundred year old horse stable. Since then, the bowls and burls have taken centre stage, and the business has grown in size and gained international recognition. What was once a one-man show has evolved into a two-generation family business that shines internationally while still keeping true to the heart and roots of the business.

Their success lies in striving for continual balance, a balance mirrored in the different aesthetics and skill sets brought by Don and his sons, Jesse and Spike Stinson. Both could be found in the shop, working by their dad’s side as far back as they can remember. Jesse joined him as a partner in 2007, and Spike several years later. They seem to have found an ideal symmetry of business vs. creation, of showcasing an unparalleled artistic eye, yet highlighting the natural beauty of the wood.
