Kitten in the Garden Brooch

Brooch of a little kitten standing in the garden. Made from hand knit Noro Kuryeon wool which has been hand felted. Wrapped in a layer of high quality brass zipper. A fresh water pearl "flower" is in this kitten's garden. Cat whiskers are made from durable nylon thread. The tiny heart was snipped out of a thrifted felt hat.

Odile Gova is a mixed media fibre artist who focuses on boldly contrasting colours and textures in ever-evolving patterns and forms. Born in Timmins, Ontario, she has lived in the greater Toronto area for the past 40 years.

With a background as a painter for the first two decades of her career, Gova now approaches every brooch as a tiny canvas. Self taught, she has developed and designed Woolly Fabulous, a line of textile jewelry, over the past 15 years.
