Blue Vase/Spooner

A beautiful, tall, blue vase with hints of a rust-coloured glaze and elegant handle.

In 1980 Nancy co-founded Clay Design Studio/Gallery in Toronto, Canada, still an artist-run urban landmark. Nancy was a ceramics instructor at George Brown College for over twenty years and was a long time member of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Crafts Council.

“The spirit and technique of Raku provides me with the opportunity to express what I most love about working in clay.  The joy of throwing and then reworking the clay seeking volume and space; the chance to live with a piece for a long time in the making, to get to know its character; the richness of colour and the depth of surface determined by the smoke. 

In my current functional ware I am seeking beauty, elegance and warmth.  I find great joy in making functional work and I hope this is conveyed through my pieces.  The challenge and required patience of making composite forms is rewarding.”
