Silo's construction relies heavily on folded sheet metal for the structure with minimal support from wooden reinforcement. Borrowing from the principles of packaging, the strength comes from the overlapping of the material rather than the material itself.

Red oak, 26 gauge sheet steel , zinc and brass hardware, cotton covered electrical cord, socket, LED bulb
Approx. 10 x 8 x 41cm

“The sculptures that I design and produce are composed of exotic woods, sheet metal, and cast urethane resin elements, which are then combined with the spark of functionality - the integration of an electrical component. This series of illuminated objects presents bodies and forms that contain and manipulate the projection of light. They serve to transform the familiar function of a lamp into a new concept, alluding to a language structure derived from industrial symbolism. The stability and visual delight of working in wood, combined with custom details in high-quality metal, lends a certain credibility to the overall absurdity of the objects’ design. Creating a subliminal paradox of functionality versus form, the artwork reminds the audience, and the artist, not to take things too seriously.”
