Asymmetric M Pendant
This series of pendants is modeled after the macrophage immune cell. A sterling silver hollow form with a hand cut design, appears to be floating on a "stem". A choice of needled felt, fill the cutout for a pop of colour.
Sterling silver, needled felt.
Pendant is 4L x 1.8w x .5d on a 44 cm sterling silver snake chain.
Robin Cassady-Cain launched her jewellery collection in 2019, the culmination of three aspects of interest: goldsmithing, textiles and biology.
Cells and themes of the immune system have been transformed into sculptural jewellery pieces. Other cells that have provided inspiration include muscle cells, and stem cells.
Robin's designs are informed by shape, line and texture and are mainly made in sterling silver and gold. The incorporation of precious and semi-precious gemstones and textiles, including felt, are ways that Robin adds a pop of colour to the designs!
