Steph Cloutier is a francophone, multidisciplinary artist from Toronto working in textiles, paper, video, and installation. Her practice explores themes of memory, liminal spaces, repair, absurdity, and history.
She is currently exploring her fascination with liminal and imagery space in urbanity, nature and our existence within those spaces. In her current body of work, she creates drawings as ethereal yet familiar landscapes.
As a former professional photographer, she experiments with various photographic techniques to push perspective and repetition, and the resulting images are reworked as thread drawings. A lover of process, she combines her dedication of hand-stitching, natural dyes and papermaking to better understand her materials.
Steph is an OCAD University graduate and has exhibited at Harbourfront Centre, the Gladstone House, and Craft Ontario. She has been awarded residencies in Toronto and in Naples, Italy.
